Tomgram: Rebecca Solnit, Earth, Too Big to Fail? | TomDispatch

Sometimes you are lucky enough to find a public commentator who can touch those resonant places in you that have been just on the brink of articulation but frustratingly unreachable. Rebecca Solnit is such a one for me. Just when I think that my vision of reality is hopelessly out of touch and begin to fall prey to the news echo chamber I find my vision clarified and restored by her insights. Did you really think we were going to achieve a soft landing in the new millennium using the conventional political machinery available to us? Think again.
